A better wide mouth bottleMay 22, 2009
By Peter Mills I never bought a Sigg before because of the small hole on top. It was hard to fill (forget about adding ice) and it was hard to clean. Now they've solved both of those problems while at the same time keeping the bottle easy to drink from. The wide hole lets you fill & clean, and the small hole is so easy to drink from without spilling. Have you ever opened a normal wide mouth bottle and tipped it toward you a little too fast? Look out for that tidal wave in your face! Thanks, Sigg, creating a better wide mouth bottle.

Rugged and Classy: Great BottleJan 14, 2010
By K. Liu I bought this bottle to use primarily as a water bottle. I take it with me when I go mountain climbing or hiking. In the past I've used mostly cheap plastic bottles, so this was quite an upgrade. I think there are a couple advantages that make this a worthwhile purchase:
+ Very strong. I've dropped it quite a few times already. On carpet and smooth ground mostly, but I've accidently dropped it on hard concrete twice. The main body's not even dented. Maybe a small scratch, but nothing noticeable. Like any other Sigg product, the overall build quality is superb. The piped body design makes it much more resilient against getting dented. + Convenient. The wider cap makes this bottle much easier to fill. You can pour in water without worrying about spilling. You can dump ice in without having any fall out. The normal-sized cap on top is convenient for drinking, as it prevents fluid from spilling out when you tip it towards yourself. + Taste! A lot of bottles I've used in the past always ended up accumulating a sort of 'used' taste. I've had this bottle for half a year, and it doesn't add any sort of taste at all. The inner coating also prevents the water from tasting metallic. In case it does start to get dirty, Sigg makes cleaning tablets. + The looped cap makes carrying this bottle easier. You can just slip your finger in. This makes it easier to pull out of your backpack while hiking, and harder for you to accidentally drop it. + Classy looking. I bought the black version. With the classic design and "SWISS MADE" printed in silver on the bottom, this bottle really shows off its quality.
*Notice that this is a great bottle for sports or travel, but it is not meant to insulate temperature. Period. Unless you put ice in it, cold fluid will lose its coolness. Likewise, hot fluids like coffee or tea will cool down (they'll also make the bottle painful to hold). If you need insulation, get a thermos.
This is a great product. Even more so at 17 dollars. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a sharp-looking, reliable water bottle for any situation.

Size & DimensionsJun 12, 2009
By Cool nerd someone else posted this and I thought it might be helpful to post it here as well:
"Just thought I would add this to help you guys understand the size of the Wide Mouth bottles. The bottle is 10-3/4" tall with the cap on. The base is 3-1/4" in diameter. The top has the standard 1" opening that can fit any of the SIGG tops and the wide mouth opening is about 2" in diameter."
I just purchased one today based on other reviews, so am hoping all will be well upon arrival. Will post update after I use it to see how the product is.

A Little Ingenuity Goes a Long WayFeb 18, 2010
By Amozarte Until now bottles have been divided into two camps: Small openings and large ones. Small openings are easy to drink from but impossible to fill with ice or clean conveniently. Large openings, on the other hand, are unwieldy and prone to making you wear your liquids instead of drinking them.
This ingenious bottle uses a nested two-stage cap. A large cap narrows the two inch wide "filling" mouth into a one inch wide "drinking" mouth. A second "mini" cap seals this opening when not in use. The combination lets you have the best of both worlds: ice AND spill-free drinking. Best of all, unlike most flip-open spouts that are prone to leaking, these caps both have well-made rubber gaskets so neither will leak.
The bottle comes with a screw-top mini cap, but Sigg offers several other interchangeable caps to suit your preference. Just search for "Sigg Sport Top" to see your options. While the screw-top has a small ring and is great for carrying, I recommend purchasing another cap for easy open-close.
The bottle is a little over ten inches high, three inches around and holds a litre of your favourite beverage. I chose the black finish, which is matte and has a stylish silver "SIGG" logo near the bottom. The contoured vertical ridges serve both form and function, making for a contemporary-looking, yet easy-to-grip device. The grips also serve to make the bottle extremely sturdy. Have no fear over the aluminum construction because short of backing over this bottle with your car it should hold up to any abuse you put it through.
Speaking of the aluminum, there's no need to worry about metallic taste either because the inside of the bottle has a BPA-free inner lining to create a non-reactive barrier between the metal and your fluids. Just understand that this barrier was not intended to serve as insulation. This is worth repeating: This bottle is NOT a thermos and was never meant to be; it won't hold temperature. The good news is that the bottle does not have a tendency to sweat. (Also- before you fill this bottle with scalding hot chocolate or coffee just remember that aluminum is a conductor and will transmit that heat right into your hand!)
Sigg has succeeded in offering a stylish and sturdy bottle that will give you years of satisfaction. The ingenious cap design, high-quality construction, and reasonable price should make it a top pick for your hydration delivery needs.

Perfect utility; misrepresented colorJul 20, 2010
By Andie I have had many water bottles over the years, trying to find a balance between easy non-dribble drinking and easy cleaning. I have found the perfect answer - this bottle has 2 caps, a wide one for cleaning and a small one for drinking! The construction feels solid, though the bottle is incredibly lightweight. Unlike cheaper aluminum bottles I have owned, the threads in the cap are well-constructed so that both caps screw on and off easily without getting off-kilter.
The only reason I give this 4 instead of 5 stars is the strange color. I ordered a red bottle, and received a bottle that the company apparently considers red but actually looks to me and my friends like pink. I thought it was a mistake in the shipment, but both the packing list and the sticker on the bottle confirmed that the bottle was "red". If you are averse to pink, don't order the red.
